THE MODEL

Not a one-time visit.
A sustained presence.

Every month, Reentry United enters MDOC correctional facilities — Level I through V — delivering motivational, educational, and resource-access conferences directly to incarcerated individuals preparing for release.

The inside conference isn't a guest lecture. It's a full-day event that brings formerly incarcerated speakers, parole board members, community organizations, and service providers face-to-face with the people who need them most.

01

Power of Choice panel

Formerly incarcerated individuals who have rebuilt their lives speak directly to residents. Peer credibility that professionals cannot replicate.

02

Parole board & information access

Parole board members, community coordinators, and service providers available for direct conversation — many attendees report it as the first time they've had direct access to decision-makers.

03

Resources & preparation

Housing, employment, transportation, education, family reconnection — not in a pamphlet, but from people in the room who can answer questions directly.

IN THEIR WORDS

What people say when they walk out.

Handwritten exit surveys, collected at every event

I came in with a closed mind. I left thinking. You covered everything — transportation, housing, clothing, support group, jobs, school. This is real help.

— RESIDENT (RGC)

The in-explanations of resources available to someone like me after 56 years in prison — my chances of survival depend on them.

— RESIDENT (DRF-WEST)

Truly helped me greatly and gave me more hope that I will be alright when I get out, even after doing 21+ years in prison.

— RESIDENT (DRF-WEST)

Seven years of incarceration and this was the first time I really felt it — that people actually do care and want success for you as an individual.

— RESIDENT (STF)

To learn that we have a panel of people that are for us, not against us.

— RESIDENT (STC)

Getting a lot of information about the many resources and knowing the MDOC is invested in mine and all returning citizens' success.

THE MICHIGAN MODEL

Built in Michigan.
Ready to travel.

Reentry United Inside isn't just a program — it's a replicable model.

We've developed a proven framework for gaining facility access, designing effective inside conferences, measuring outcomes, and sustaining a monthly presence at multiple security levels within a state correctional system. What started in Michigan is ready to expand.

If you're a reentry director, DOC administrator, or state coalition interested in bringing this model to your state, we want to hear from you.
